Notes: An archaeological survey was conducted in an area submerged in Lake Markermeer and bordered on the east side by a dike. Preliminary research has shown that the medieval settlement of Etersheim was located at this site, including a church and a cemetery. This area is known as the “Sunken Village of Etersheim.” The well-known 12th-century sarcophagus from Etersheim was previously found in this area.
Feature description: A rounded Bartmann jug with a tall cylindrical neck and a fluted rim, on a foot. Relief appliqués; body: plant tendrils with leaves and flowers; neck/shoulder: a Bartmann with a square beard. A vertical loop handle; the base is missing. Type s2-kan-3. Produced in Cologne/Frechen.
