Notes: A castle stood on this site for centuries. In 1426, the castle suffered severe damage during a siege. The noble family of Brederode then moved to one of their other castles. It was not until 1482 that the castle was inhabited again by the Brederode family. However, in 1491, the castle was destroyed once again. From that moment on, it fell into further disrepair. The last habitable parts of the immense building were set on fire in 1573 by departing Spanish troops.
