Notes: The so-called "Kvitsøy wreck" is located near the harbour of Ydstebøhavn on the island of Kvitsøy, off the coast of Stavanger, Norway. Presumably, this wreck is the Dutch vessel "Staad Haarlem" that sank in 1676.
Feature description: One out of eight Bartmann jugs retrieved from the wreck dyring an archalogical survey (Molaug, S. 1969. Utgraving av vrak ved Kvitsøy. Norsk Sjøfartsmuseum. Årsberetning og regnskap 1969, 30-57.) The jugs contained organic residues, which were analyzed to be most likely animalic (porc) grease, maybe used as ointment base.
