Netherlands

Notes: The bartmann jug was found in the Noordoostpolder. Before the closure of the Afsluitdijk in 1932, this area was an inland sea called the Zuiderzee.
Many ships sank, but were preserved in the soft soil. Since the construction of the Flevoland polders in the mid-20th century, more than 400 shipwrecks have been discovered and investigated. The large number of shipwrecks in the soil makes Flevoland the largest “dry” ship graveyard in the world.
