Notes: In 2009, a wreck was found in the old Texel Roadstead. It was named “Burgzand Noord 17” (BZN 17). It is the wreck of an armed merchant ship (a street sailor), which was probably built in the Netherlands between approximately 1640 and 1650. The cargo consisted of boxwood trunks and Italian majolica pottery, among other things. The wreck is known for its many luxury goods, such as expensive leather book covers, jewellery and a beautiful silk dress.

Feature description: Bartmann jug; s2-kan-32; convex jug with shoulder transitioning into a high neck with ribbed collar edge, flat base, vertical ribbon handle; stoneware with surface treatment: iron engobe, accents of cobalt blue and salt glaze; mask on the neck, three identical appliqués with the coats of arms of Jülich, Kleve, Berg, Mark and Ravensberg on the belly; cobalt blue spots on the appliqués; origin: Frechen, Rhineland
