Notes: In 2007, Hollandia Archeologie carried out an archaeological survey in the inner district of Gorinchem. The survey site has a long history of settlement. The Kortendijk is located on a riverbank embankment along the Linge and is one of the oldest settlement axes in the city of Gorinchem. This survey uncovered traces of habitation dating from the Late Middle Ages through the Early Modern Period. The earliest traces date to the 14th century, and the site has likely been continuously inhabited ever since. Remains of walls and foundations of houses from various periods were found, along with associated (water) cellars and a total of eight waste pits and cesspools.
