Notes: February 1686 the Dutch VOC (Vereenigde Oostindische Compagnie) ship PRINSES MARIA sank in shallow water close to Silver Carn, one of the Western Rocks. There were no survivors. The PRINSES MARIA was built in 1682 for the Middelburg Chamber of the VOC, at the Zeeland yard. Dimensions in feet 160 x 39 x 18.25, displacing 1140 tons. She left the island of Texel on 04 Januari 1686 on behalf of the Amsterdam Chamber of the VOC, to Batavia, with many wealthy merchants, mercury and a large quantity of silver bullion.
