Feature description: Complete stoneware Bartmann jug with a globular body, flat base, and narrow neck. The facemask displays distorted facial features characteristic of 17th-century Frechen production. The vessel is further decorated with the coat of arms of the city of Amsterdam applied to the body.

The presence of a Frechen-produced Bartmann jug on Paros reflects the island’s integration into 17th-century maritime trade networks connecting the Cyclades with north-western Europe. Archaeological and architectural evidence from the island indicates a shift towards elite consumption and display during this period, as demonstrated by the importation of luxury ceramics from Europe and the eastern Mediterranean. The jug likely functioned as a status object within the domestic or commercial sphere of emerging local elites.
