Notes: Archaeological work at 7–9 Holland Street / 118–122 Southwark Street (Bankside, Southwark), carried out by MOLA in 2008, revealed how low-lying, flood-prone land on the edge of Paris (Parish) Garden manor was gradually drained, divided, built on, and finally densely occupied between the 15th and 18th centuries. The key remains are water-management ditches, a major timber-lined sewer, 17th-century building foundations and wells, and numerous 18th-century cesspits and drains, all rich in domestic, industrial and trade-related finds.
