About this jug

Mask: Group 8

Vessel: Group 8

Location:

Westminster Bridge Rd, London, UK
United Kingdom

Long/Lat: 51.49919, -0.1130205

Archaeological Context: Sealed feature: Surface find (including mudlarking)

Notes: The sherd of Bartmann face was found on the Thames Foreshore at low tide just underneath the Palace of Westminster, and almost certainly destined for the Palace. This area is out of bounds to Mudlarks (for security reasons) but I found the sherd on a day when I accompanied Thames Discovery Programme (TDP) to check on erosion and the embankment wall, so we had permission to be here.

Time Period: 1625 - 1675

Custody: Private collection

Custody Data: In my mudlarking finds collection held in my home.
