Notes: Site number is 44JC0008. This was a trash pit in an area known as the Governor's Land. Surrounding area disturbed for housing development. No associated structure discovered. The date of the pit has been recently reassessed from c. 1690 to c. 1660-75.
Feature description: The neck is impressed with a Holmes Type VIII mask hourglass mouth and an oval medallion with rose-crown-heart motif on the body. The medallion of a crowned heart is a common mid-seventeenth-century type. Examples have been recovered on Dutch shipwrecks Haarlem, 1648, Lastdragger, 1653, Vergulde Draeck, 1656, Avondster 1669, and Kennemerland, 1664.
